If your washing machine is not heating up then it may be time to change the wash element. The wash heater element heats water to the washing temperature selected.

Elements can often fail over time; you will notice this when your clothes aren't being cleaned and your water is not heating up. Limescale deposits build up on the element over time causing it to fail.
