If the water in your dishwasher is staying cold and not heating up, then you may have a fault with the Heater. A faulty heater can cause the dishes to not come out correctly cleaned and if the water is too hot, it could cause glasses to crack.

The primary function of the heater element in your dishwasher is to maintain the temperature of the water that is coming into the unit. The other function is that it heats the air inside of the unit during the drying cycle to make the evaporation process faster.
