Your kettle comes in two parts - the Base and the kettle.

This replacement kettle Base is connected by a power cord that you conveniently plug into the mains power outlet. The kettle sits on top of the base and makes a secure electrical connection with it. When switched on, the power is fed via this Base to the heating element within the kettle.
